Fort Collins is northern Colorado's vacation headquarters close to Rocky Mountain National Park. Fort Collins, home to Colorado State University, is a town that features a diversity of restaurants, shopping and quaint hangouts. It is affectionately known by the locals as “Fort Fun”. Six breweries are established here and the Colorado Brewers Festival is held here annually. The downtown Old Town district was the model for the park at Disneyland in California. Located just minutes from the Cache la Poudre River, at an elevation of 4,984 feet, this area is an outdoor lover’s dream. Whitewater rafting trips for families and advanced paddlers are offered on the Wild and Scenic Cache La Poudre River located just west of town. Kayaking and fly fishing are also popular activities in the Poudre Canyon. Multi-day trips in Wyoming on the North Platte River are also available.
