Rafting trips near: Aspen

The quaint mining town of Aspen is nestled amidst spectacular mountain scenery in the upper end of the Roaring Fork River valley. A visit to Aspen is an enriching experience whether learning a new skill or adventure, listening to lectures and music at the famed Wheeler Opera House or simply absorbing the spirit that the nearby mountains exude. Aspen is surrounded by four world-class ski areas. Summer outdoor adventures such as whitewater rafting, kayaking, fly fishing and mountain biking are readily available. In the late 1800's, Aspen's boom was driven by mining in the largest silver vein in the world. The Smuggler Mine produced the largest silver nugget ever discovered at 2350 pounds. Today visitors enjoy the scenic drive over Independence Pass and hiking and photographing the famous Maroon Bells Peaks. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and fly fishing are available in the Glenwood Canyon section of the Colorado River and on the Roaring Fork River near Aspen.
