Rafting trips near: Grand Lake

The resort community of Grand Lake borders Colorado's largest natural lake and Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake is the gateway to the Park for visitors coming from the west. Grand Lake was settled in 1876 as a supply center for the gold and silver mining operations on the Colorado River. While the boom didn't last, pioneers weathered cold winters to persevere in what would become a favorite Colorado resort area. In addition to having spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and the lake, Grand Lake has hiking, biking, birding and fly fishing available in the surrounding area. Fly fishing in mountain lakes and small streams in Rocky Mountain National Park are easily accessed. Whitewater rafting and inflatable kayaking for all abilities are available on the Upper Colorado River about 50 minutes away near the town of Kremmling.
