One of Glenwood Springs’ most infamous citizens, Doc Holiday, gunman, gambler, dentist, headed here after the famous shootout at the OK Corral. Doc Holiday died in Glenwood and his gravesite can be visited at the Linwood Cemetery. The White River National Forest, with headquarters in Glenwood Springs, is the largest national forest in Colorado and the 12th largest in the nation, covering nearly 2.3 million acres. With a prime location at the confluence of the Colorado River and the Roaring Fork River, Glenwood offers exceptional river recreation. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and fly fishing are favorite vacation activities in the Glenwood Canyon area.
